The Art Garage: A Creative Hub Reimagined in Green Bay's Historic Olde Main District

     Big things are happening in Green Bay’s Olde Main District, and one of Advantage’s valued nonprofit clients is at the center of it all. The Art Garage—operated by Cedar Center Arts, Inc.—continues to redefine what it means to create, collaborate, and connect through the arts.

     For nearly two decades, this beloved community arts space has provided a home for creativity in all its forms, and recent updates to its programming and facilities mark an exciting new chapter in its story.

A Creative Space for Everyone

     Since opening its doors in 2006, The Art Garage has become a cornerstone of Green Bay’s arts community—offering a gallery that’s free and open to the public, a rotating lineup of exhibitions, workshops, and live performances, and a space where creativity flourishes at every level.

     Representing artists and performers at all stages of their careers, The Art Garage has built a reputation for being inclusive, collaborative, and community-driven. From local art showcases to regional partnerships, its programs celebrate the belief that access to the arts is essential for a thriving community.

Inside the Historic Cannery Building

     Located in a beautifully restored century-old cannery, The Art Garage blends history and artistry in a setting unlike any other. Cream city brick walls, high ceilings, and polished concrete floors create the perfect backdrop for creativity to unfold.

     Behind the main gallery, nine semi-private artist studios give local creators a place to work, connect, and grow. The adjoining Studio B—a multipurpose event space—hosts everything from workshops and performances to pop-up galleries and community markets. With entrances from both the gallery and Main Street, Studio B has quickly become a vibrant gathering place for artists and audiences alike.

Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future

     Cedar Center Arts, Inc. was founded by local artists who dreamed of a shared creative space that would nurture both art and community. That dream became reality on March 17, 2006, when The Art Garage officially opened its doors in the Old Cannery Building.

     Within just five years, the organization expanded to over 6,000 square feet and grew into a thriving operation supported by dedicated board members, staff, and volunteers. In 2015, with overwhelming community support, The Art Garage purchased the entire cannery complex—cementing its place as a cultural anchor in Green Bay.

Now, as Cedar Center Arts transitions away from property management to refocus fully on supporting the arts, the organization is once again proving its commitment to creativity, collaboration, and community impact.
